About the

Director of Adult Social Care Operations

About the role

Camden has never been a place that ignores or accepts injustice. Alongside the council, Camden’s communities, citizens and partners have a rich history of coming together to bring about real social change. In March 2022, we published We Make Camden – our refreshed community vision for the future of our borough. It sets out what we want to achieve with our partners and our communities and how we will share power and lead together.

Camden is a purpose-led and mission-oriented organisation. Our four Missions represent our cross-cutting ambitions for our future – requiring deep partnership across sectors as well as drawing on the insight, creativity and ambition of our communities. Through our Missions we have the opportunity to find new allies inside and beyond Camden – including developing our strong collaborative working with national Government.

The Director of Adult Social Care Operations plays a critical leadership role within Camden’s Adult & Health directorate management team. A strategic thinker and dynamic leader that brings innovative ideas, challenges established norms and drives bold initiatives that enhance service delivery and outcomes.

We hold an optimistic view for the future and remain committed to delivering modern public services that improve outcomes for our residents, even in the face of long-standing financial pressures. This ambition is made possible by the strength of our core services, underpinned by routine performance monitoring, robust quality assurance, resident insight, and stable, effective leadership.

Our recent ‘Outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) is a powerful endorsement of the dedication, professionalism, and hard work of our teams. It reflects our unwavering commitment to high-quality care and support. For us, the art of leadership is about balance: the ability to shape and deliver strategy while maintaining sharp attention to detail that drives meaningful performance improvements. We are seeking someone who can lead with clarity and conviction, create a positive and developmental culture, and inspire those around them to thrive.

We’re ambitious for Camden and for this role. We are looking for a strategic collaborator who can build trusted relationships and work seamlessly with colleagues, elected members, and partners to make a decisive, lasting impact.

As a senior leader within the organisation, the post-holder will provide expert strategic advice to the Executive Director, Camden Management team, and Politicians on all aspects of adult social care services, ensuring alignment with corporate priorities and delivering high-impact outcomes. This role is pivotal in shaping innovative, evidence-based strategies and fostering system-wide conditions that amplify the voice of residents and service users in service design and improvement.

The post-holder will lead the development of resident-centred systems and processes that are purposeful, efficient, and cost-effective. They will contribute to organisational leadership by cultivating a high-performing, agile, and digitally enabled workforce that embodies Camden’s “Way We Work” ethos.
